William "Bill" Kessler, 84, a resident of Churubusco, died at 8:47 a. m. on Saturday, February 2, 2008, at The Oaks in Columbia City. He had been in failing health for several months, and had entered the nursing home two weeks ago. Mr. Kessler was born in Auburn on March 22, 1923, a son of William and Mary May (Lippincott) Kessler. He moved to Smith Township as a child, and graduated from Churubusco High School in 1941. He spent most all of his adult life in the Collins and Blue Lake areas, and retired from the die casting department at General Electric in Fort Wayne after 43 years. A former member of the Churubusco Lions Club and past Lions district governor, he enjoyed fishing, wintering in Mesa, Arizona, and loved his dog "Penny." Surviving are his children Susan (Richard "Al") Fry of Columbia City, Kent (Deb) Kessler of Indianapolis, and Randy (Karen) Kessler of Fort Wayne; and his former wife Joan (Blanchard) Kessler of Fort Wayne. There are six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six sisters and six brothers. At the request of Mr. Kessler there will be no services or calling hours.
