Wesley Lee Smith, 80, of Fort Wayne, passed away at 10:27 a.m., on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at Northwoods Village.\n\nBorn in Allen County, on May 8, 1938, to the late, Charles and Helen (Butt) Smith. He spent his formative years in rural Allen County, graduating from Huntertown High School.\n\nLee was married to Wavalene Evans in Gomer, Ohio, on November 14, 1959. She preceded him in death on August 20, 2009, after nearly 50 years of marriage.\n\nHe was employed at International Harvester in Fort Wayne. When Harvester moved, he transferred to Springfield where he lived until his retirement. After his retirement, the couple lived in Florida for 10 years before coming home to Fort Wayne.\nLee enjoyed playing golf, bowling and camping. He especially loved his family.\n\nLee is survived by three sons, Donald (Shannan) Smith, David (Jill) Smith both of Fort Wayne and Robert (Denise) Smith of Valrico, Florida; a sister, Carol Williams; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.\n\nIn addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his second wife, Shirley Smith.\n\nServices will take place at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home on Friday, December 28, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., Pastor Larry Smith, officiating.\nThe family will receive friends on Thursday, December 27, 2018, at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m., until 8:00 p.m. Calling also one hour prior to the service on Friday.\n\nBurial taking place at Eel River Cemetery, Churubusco.\n\nIn Lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to Heartland Hospice.\n\nOnline Guestbook or leave a personal note to the family at www.sheetsandchilds.com.
