Trudy Kay Gaerte, 66, of Albion, passed away on June 30, 2021, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. \nBorn in Chambersburg, PA, on June 1, 1955, to the late Harold Statler and Violet (Pope) Hospelhorn. She moved to this area when she was seventeen and graduated from Central Noble High School.\nTrudy was married to Daniel Gaerte in the Blue River Church, on October 27, 1973.\nShe was the Co/Owner and Operator of Gaerte Garage for 32 years. She also recently retired from Bosch Automotive.\nTrudy was an active member of Charter Oak Community Church. When it came to her family, she was all in. It did not matter what you needed she was there. She never wanted to miss anything when it came to her grandkids. She also enjoyed baking. She would make custom cakes for anyone that asked.\nTrudy is survived by her husband of 47 years, Daniel Gaerte; her two favorite sons, Todd Gaerte and Tony (Lara) Gaerte; her three favorite daughters, Stacy (Wes) Spiess, Shelly (Jesse) Rodriguez, and Kalyn (Jordan) Winebrenner; two brothers, Alan (Vickie) Statler and Bradley Statler; a sister, Susan Asbury; 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.\nIn addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Tristin Stocksdale.\nServices will take place at Blue River Church of the Brethren on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at 10:00 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service.\n \nThe family will receive friends at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel, on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m.\nBurial taking place at Wolf Lake Cemetery.\nMemorials to Charter Oak Community Church.\nOnline Guestbook or leave a personal note to the family at www.sheetsandchilds.com.
