Shermon "Sherm" Gayheart, Jr., 54, of Avilla, passed away on December 17, 2021, at Parkview Regional Medical Center. \nHe was born in Fort Wayne, on June 5, 1967, to the Shermon and Geneva (Runyon) Gayheart, Sr. He spent his formative years in Fort Wayne, graduating from Northrop High School.\nSherm was married to Carla Fike in Fort Wayne, on November 21, 1987.\nHe worked as a Site Superintendent for Performance Services. He had perviously co-owned with his daughter, BMG Mechanical. He also had worked for A. Hattersley & Sons and Shambaugh & Sons.\nSherm was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and the Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 166.\nHe loved his girls. He was a friend to many and will be missed.\nSherm is survived by his wife of 34 years, Carla Gayheart; his daughter, Brittany Gayheart; his parents, Shermon and Geneva Gayheart, Sr.; a brother, David Gayheart..\nHe was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ruby & Buris Runyon.\nServices will take place at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel, on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at 7:00 p.m., with Pastor Lane Burgland officiating.\n \nThe family will receive friends on Wednesday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.\nMemorials to St. Jude Children's Hospital.\nOnline Guestbook or leave a personal note to the family at www.sheetsandchilds.com.
