Phil A. Grogg, 84, of Fort Wayne, passed away on December 4, 2024, at his home.
He was born on December 28, 1939, in Garrett, to the late Argyl and Ruth (Bracht) Grogg. He spent his formative years in LaOtto and graduated from Garrett High School in 1958.
Phil was married to Carol E. Crofoot on March 3, 1963, in Kendallville. The couple settled in Fort Wayne and raised their daughter and eventually their grandson. She preceded him on death on May 25, 2021.
A long-time resident of Fort Wayne, known for his love of family and his dedication to his home, he left an indelible mark on those around him. He was a man of hard work, having spent his career as a construction worker with Fox Contractors before his retirement. Phil was a proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 103, where he had been a member since October 31, 1962.
Phil was a man of many interests, including fishing, watching bull riding, and keeping up with college football and basketball. He was known for the pond he made on his family property, stocked with bass and blue gill, which allowed him to indulge in his love of fishing. Phil also enjoyed tending to his garden, making it a point of pride in his backyard.
Phil is survived by his daughter, Katherine Dague; his brother, Joe Grogg; his grandson, Cory (Savannah Collins) Dague.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel, with calling one hour prior to the service.
The family will also receive family and friends on Monday, December 9, 2024, at the funeral home from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Burial will take place at the Cedar Creek Cemetery, Garrett.
