Norman C Schaefer, 95, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2019, at his farm in Allen County.\n\nBorn in Fort Wayne, on April 17, 1924, to the late Henry and Clara (Hitzeman) Schaefer. He spent his formative years in Allen County, graduating from Arcola High School in 1942.\n\nNorman was married to Charlotte Blessing at St. John's Lutheran Church, Lake TWP, on February 15, 1947. The couple has spent their entire marriage in Allen County.\n\nHe farmed his family's land for 75 years. He was also an owner/operator truck driver for 20 years and drove for a total of 50 years.\nNorman was a big supporter of 4-H. He was active in the Suburban Bethlehem Lutheran Church and served on the school board. He enjoyed westerns like Gunsmoke and Bonanza. He cherished his family, especially his grandkids.\n\nNorman is survived by three daughters, Suzanne (Dennis) Sutton, Connie Pearce and Jolene (Hal) Rogers; a son, Scott (Stephinie) Schaefer; 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren.\n\nHe was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Charlotte Schaefer on February 12, 2019; a son-in-law, Dan Hochstetler.\n\nServices will take place at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home on Saturday, November 23, 2019, at 10:00 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service.\n\nThe family will also receive friends on Friday, November 22, 2019, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.\n\nBurial taking place at Eel River Cemetery, Churubusco.\n\nIn lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to Heartland Hospice or your local 4-H Club.\n\nOnline note to the family at www.sheetsandchilds.com.
