The world lost a remarkable soul when Jeffrey Worthman passed away at his home on Friday, September 8, 2023. Born on August 27, 1952, to parents, Jack and Bettina (Einhorn) Worthman, of Fort Wayne, Jeffrey exemplified a life abundant in creativity, talent, charisma, and love. In the words of Maya Angelou, "A great soul serves everyone all the time. A great soul never dies. It brings us together again and again." Jeffrey's soul was indeed great, and his legacy continues to bring us together in love and memory.
Jeffrey was a man of many talents, each one a testament to his creative spirit. As a gifted woodworker, he left his mark on the world through the beautiful custom homes he built in Indiana and the breathtaking oceanfront escapades in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands. His designs were not merely structures but tangible manifestations of his imaginative and inventive intellect.
Music was another avenue through which Jeffrey showcased his talents. Despite never learning to read music, he could play the guitar, piano, and harmonica by ear, beautifully capturing the melodies of life. His charisma shone brightest when he performed at local spots in St. Croix, filling the air with joy and camaraderie. An avid outdoorsman, Jeffrey cherished nature, whether he was sailing on his boat in the Virgin Islands or riding his bike through the scenic landscapes of Indiana.
He was, above all, a fun-loving grandpa. His ability to connect with his grandchildren, to truly play and engage with them, etched loving memories that will forever be cherished.
Jeffrey's faith was the cornerstone of his life. A devoted member of the Lakeside Chapel Church in Syracuse, he strived to live out his Christian faith in all aspects of his life. He held a deep love for his family, a bond that remained unbroken despite the waves of life.
He is survived by the mother of his children, LaNette Worthman; a son, John Worthman; a daughter, Danielle (Dan) Miller-Kretschman; his beloved grandchildren, MaKenna, Ava, Harper, and Ty; and siblings, Alice (Fritz) Martin, Faith (Craig) Wise, and Marty (Donna) Worthman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Bettina Worthman; and a sister, Lisa Chiddister.
Memorial services for Jeffrey will be announced by his family at a later date.
