Garold E. "Gene" Boggs, age 91, of Churubusco, passed away on September 28, 2017 at his home.\nBorn in Green Township on February 1, 1926, to Harmon and Clara (Owen) Boggs. He spent his formative years on the Family farm in Green Township and Graduated from Albion High School in 1944.\nHe was married on July 4, 1947 to Mellie Gaff in Merriam. She preceded him in death on May 21, 1993. Later he married Luraine Y. (Combs) McNeal she survives.\nGene retired in 1986 from Dana Corporation, Fort Wayne after 40 years of service.\nHe was a member of Merriam Christian Chapel and later Wallen Baptist Church. Wher he spent many hours preparing and teaching Sunday School Classes.\nHe was a nationally recognized woodcarver and He loved camping, fishing and spending time with his family.\nGene is survived by his wife of 23 years, Luraine McNeal of Churubusco; a son, Kerry (Barbara) Boggs of Churubusco; two daughters, Sherry (Larry) Halt of Edwards, Mo and Corinne (Ron) Kline of Fort Wayne; two brothers, Ray Boggs of Churubusco and Lee (Ann) Boggs of Albion; three sisters, Beverly (Steven) Carter of Churubusco, Connie (Jerry) Frymier of Albion and Sharon (Dean) Zolman of Columbia City; five grandchildren, Starr Slyby, Todd Boggs, Trenton Boggs, Jared Sickafoose and Jessica Nicola; ten great grandchildren, Allie Boggs, Macey Boggs, Chandler Boggs, Amber Boggs, Jagger Boggs, Kaden Sickafoose, Kaleigh Sickafoose, Kira Sickafoose, Kalyn Sickafoose and Brianna Nicola.\nIn addition to his parent and first wife, he is preceded in death by a sister, Lois McWilliams.\nVisiting hours will take place at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home on October 2, 2017 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Calling also one hour prior to the service at church.\nServices will begin at 10:00 AM, at Wallen Baptist Church on October 3, 2017.\nBurial will follow at Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam.\nIn lieu of flowers please make memorials to the Shepherd's House, Fort Wayne.
