Donald E. Leffers, 93, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at his home on Leffers Lane.\n\nHe was born in Fort Wayne on August 7, 1929, to the late Edward and Bertha (Buettner) Leffers. He spent his formative years in Arcola and graduated from Arcola High School.\n\nDonald was married to Elanor Jean Felger, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, in Arcola, on June 3, 1950. The couple settled on Goshen Road and during that time lived in seven houses, finally settling on "Leffers Lane".\n\nDonald wore many hats in his 93 years of life. He worked at Rea Magnet Wire for 20 years. While working at Rea, he farmed and built homes with his brother. All this led to him becoming a Broker/Realtor.\n\nHe was a member for more than 60 years of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church. He was a great example of a follower of Christ. He enjoyed reading his bible, praying the Rosary, fishing, spending time with his family, working, and smoking his pipe.\n\nDonald is survived by his wife of 72 years, Elanor Jean Leffers; his two sons, Timothy (Peggy) Leffers and Matthew (Dawn) Leffers; his two daughters, Connie (Fred) Campbell and Sharon (Larry) Tallent; his sister, Kathryn (Phil) Riecke; a brother, Arthur Leffers; 18 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren.\n\nIn addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Charles Leffers; a sister, Ruth Stapleton; a grandson, Craig Tallent.\n\nA Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at 1:00 p.m., with calling beginning at 11:00 a.m.\n\nBurial will follow at Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne.\n\nMemorials may be directed to Knights of Columbus.\n\nSheets & Childs Funeral Home has been entrusted with these arrangements.
