Donald R Herron Sr., 79, of Churubusco, passed away at 9:15 p.m. on Friday, July 15, 2016 at his home, with family by his side..\nMr. Herron was born on August 16, 1936 in Fort Wayne, a son of Kenneth and Emily (Waters) Herron. He spent his formative years in northwest Allen county, and graduated from Churubusco High School in 1955.\nOn August 2, 1958 he was married at the Churubusco United Methodist Church to Gail L. Stoops.\nHe was employed as a meat cutter for Myer's A & P, Rogers , and retired from Egolf''s IGA.\nMr. Herron was a member of the C City Bass Anglers. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Linda & Mac Millington, Sharon Meitz, and Nancy & Jack Endsley. He was a passionate IU fan. He enjoyed processing deer for hundreds of local hunters, but was the most happy bass fishing with his brother Jim.\nHis wife Gail preceded him in death on July 26, 2010.\nThe surviving relatives include three sons, Donald (Michelle Heitkamp) Herron, Jr., Anthony E. (Lea Ann) Herron both of Churubusco, and Nicholas D. (Lisa) Herron of Waterloo; a brother, Jim Herron of Churubusco; 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.\nHe was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Emily (Waters) Herron and a sister Sandra Speakman.\nMemorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home.\nThe family will receive friends at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday.\nBurial will be at a later date in the Eel River Cemetery, Allen County.\nFor those who wish, memorials may be directed to Churubusco Youth Foundation.\nTo leave an online condolence for the family, log on to www.sheetsandchilds.net.
